Keep watch with me!

In Matthew 26, Jesus has communion with His disciples, and He tells them that one of them will betray Him.

Jesus takes Peter, James, and John, His closest companions with Him, and told them that his soul was crushed with grief to the point of death. “Stay here and keep watch with me.”

He returned to find the disciples sleep and he said “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you won’t give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing but the body is weak.”

In Luke, He says, “Why are you sleeping, get up and pray, so that you will not give into temptation.”

I believe that Jesus was giving a warning, pray to abolish temptation, even if the outcome is not what you desire it to be, still Pray!

1 Corinthian 10: 12-13 tells us, “If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what the others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Even the greats were tempted, Peter, couldn’t even keep watch for one hour. I believe that God is petitioning us to “KEEP WATCH WITH HIM!”

Your prayers can and will allow God to show you the way to resist temptation. Prayer is a weapon. Pray without ceasing.
